This year, MAPC is fundraising for the Scholars-at-Risk program. This initiative aims to provide assistance to academics and students who have come from conflict zones. The program both provides humanitarian assistance to these scholars, and enables them to contribute to the intellectual life of the university. In light of the growing refugee crisis coming from Syria, U of T has generously announced a goal of giving $1 million in bursaries to students affected by the Syrian refugee crisis, with $10, 000 being given to each at-risk student. In addition, the university will match donations from members of the U of T community. We hope to raise enough funds to provide assistance to one scholar from Syria.
